Today was the installation of the new church committee for the year 2013. We thanked brother Raimond for serving his post as Honorary Secretary for the past 2 years, while we welcome sister Sharon as the new Honorary Secretary. Additionally we welcome brother Yeow Sing as our Honorary Treasurer and sister Yvonne as committee member.
Keep them in prayer, that they may be a support to our pastor and build God's church!
Christmas Eve this year we celebrated at one of our member’s homes, the Kuhlman family, who had also prepared all the snacks.
Many friends were invited and many came too, it was a full house with around 30 people. Every nook and cranny was filled! And, everyone who wanted to enter had to sing a Christmas Carol, creating a meaningful Christmas atmosphere.
Before the year was over, we decided we should go out one more time! We went to the brand-new and partly-completed Montego Resort in Batam. After all the hard labour in 2012, this was a much needed restful experience for all of us. We even had our own private swimming pool. During our time here we had a bible study session, prayer meetings and our worship service. It was a time that brought us closer together, and closer to God.
Our neighbor church, Great Shepherd Assembly of God, had kindly invited us to join them in a day trip to Kukup. We accepted, of course! Amongst others, we visited a batik painting factory, chocolate factory and a fishing village.
We had a memorable church anniversary celebration this year, which started with a thanksgiving service themed “Disciples that know me and follow me”. We were joined by invited family and friends as well. Afterwards we all took a chartered bus to Singapore’s brand new Gardens by the Bay, where we explored the domes and stood amazed. We closed with a lovely dinner!
Our yearly church camp took us back to Desaru, where we rested, played and got all wet in the swimming pool and enjoyed the wide selection of food. To all our surprise we even met an old friend (Mariati, the Seng family’s ex-maid). Our camp was concluded with a “Sunday” worship service conducted on Saturday!
Easter is a time when christians around the world remember and celebrate Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection.
This year, Care Assembly performed a number of songs for anyone who was willing to lend a listening ear. But, they were not just any songs! All of them have been written by several of our own church members. A small taste of what happened that day is in this YouTube video where our youngest sings verse 1 and chorus of "Following You". Written by her mama, by the way!
Benny Prasad, globe-trotting world-class musicianary from Bangalore, India, brought his Bentar (a unique guitar-based instrument invented by the owner) to Care Assembly of God for a special performance on this wonderful Friday evening.
The church was packed and we were all awed by Benny's marvellous performance on his one and only "Bentar". We listened to his unique music and his inspiring testimonies on how Jesus Christ changed his life from being a "useless person" to who he is today, a skillful musician greatly used by God. By the way, he also holds a World Record...he travelled to all the world's 250 countries (including Antarctica) in the shortest time ever...7 years, 2 months and 15 days (1 May 2004 - 15 July 2011).
